RESPONSIBLE FOR: Coding and abstracting medical records. Entering codes for diagnoses, operative procedures, complications, and infections. Coding hospital bills for Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: High school education. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Understanding of computerized groupers, DRGs and optimization. Two years coding experience and certification as CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist, Physician Based), CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPC-H (Certified Professional Coder, Hospital Based). Prefer RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator). Responsibilities will include coding and abstracting medical records. Entering codes for diagnoses, operative procedures, complications, and infections. Coding hospital bills for Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance. Requires both inpatient and outpatient coding experience.
