Summary:
JOB SUMMARY: Consistently produces accurate results on patient, quality control, and proficiency samples, while following established protocols. Displays effective problem-solving skills, recognizes deviation from expected results, demonstrates knowledge of troubleshooting skills/instrumentation/methodology. Maintains phlebotomy skills. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate, plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency. Must meet the requirements for a medical technologist as specified by the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Department of Human Resources Laboratory Licensure Division. Bachelor's Degree and Experience preferred New graduates who are registry-eligible will be considered for day or evening shift assignments, and must pass a certification examination within 18 months of their first employment date in the state of Georgia. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Must have the ability to assume leadership role in medical technology practice. Must be able to organize work, to delegate effectively, and to direct and oversee the work of assistants, phlebotomists, technicians, and other healthcare providers. Must have the ability to recognize patient care problems and to react appropriately in patient care emergencies. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with other healthcare personnel, patients, and physicians.
